She told me Hyacinth's aren't naturally purple, but became that way from fruit acids cultivators added to their soil. The flower is named after a fallen Greek goddess who was murdered by Apollo. Zeus turned her into a flower after she died to save her soul from Hades. The myth says Hyacinth's blood made it dark purple.
